Description
SS-31 (elamipretide) is a synthetic mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide that associates with cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane. It has been characterized in preclinical research as a modulator of mitochondrial bioenergetics, making it a useful tool compound for isolating mitochondrial-function endpoints in experimental designs.
SS-31 has been used in preclinical in vitro and rodent model studies to investigate mitochondrial membrane integrity, electron transport efficiency, reactive oxygen species production, and cellular energy metabolism under stress conditions. Its cardiolipin affinity supports mechanistic characterization of mitochondrial biology in laboratory research.
Intended use: In vitro and preclinical in vivo laboratory research only. Not approved for human or veterinary use.
