Description

Epithalon (also known as Epitalon; Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide derivative of epithalamin, a peptide fraction isolated from the pineal gland. Its four-amino acid sequence makes it one of the more structurally minimal peptides under active preclinical investigation in cellular biology research contexts.

Epithalon has been examined in cell-based and rodent model studies as a putative modulator of telomerase (TERT) activity. Preclinical research has investigated its effects on telomere length maintenance in replicating cell populations, downstream transcriptional effects in pineal-related neuroendocrine signaling models, and activity in oxidative stress assay systems and cell cycle regulation studies.
