Description
Oxytocin is a nine-amino-acid hormone with a disulfide ring, synthesized in hypothalamic neurons. It is a standard reference peptide in studies of the oxytocin receptor and related signaling.
In laboratory animals and cell culture, studies have examined receptor binding and signaling, hypothalamic neuron activity, behavioral assays in rodent models, and uterine and mammary smooth-muscle cell responses. Its defined structure supports receptor pharmacology experiments.
Intended use: In vitro and preclinical in vivo laboratory research only. Not approved for human or veterinary use.
