Description
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Researchers use it as a minimal melanocortin-derived reference peptide in cytokine signaling research.
In cultured epithelial and immune cell lines and in rodent models, investigations have focused on NF-kB pathway activity, cytokine expression, PepT1 transporter uptake, and epithelial barrier cell behavior. Its three-residue length makes it a convenient probe for peptide-transporter and signaling studies.
